I have prostate cancer

By Shell Suber

NOTE: This was originally published as a small series of posts on Facebook on November 6, 2013. Published here in its entirety with minimal edits.

130916-103539I have prostate cancer. I found out a few months ago and I haven’t told many people. I didn’t see the point. After some surgery next week I won’t have it any more so why make a federal case of it? I had my gallbladder out last year. How is this any different?

But it is different. Read on to see what I mean.

First, I need to assure everyone I feel fine. No symptoms at all. In fact, I might have gone years without even knowing I had prostate cancer if not for a lucky break. More on that later.

Jim DeMint for President!

Contributed by iPlan

Jim DeMint is THE MAN!  I started saying that DeMint was planning a run for President in 2012  2 years ago.  I hope I’m right in my prediction, as he’s probably the only one I could think of that would do the right things to keep our country from becoming a banana republic, and our currency worth less than the paper it was printed on:

Here’s a partial list of what he might do (this is an uncomfortable list):

Now what?

Contributed by Bob Edens

Last night was a historic election in so many ways. The first African American Republican was elected to the US house. Another one from Florida. 2 Republican women won governships. NC went GOP for the first time since 1870. 239 seats were won by the GOP. Not since 1932 has any party won so many seats. The Senate got closer. It looks like it’ll be 52-48. IN SC 14 term Dem John Spratt was defeated. 5 of the 6 house seats are now Republican.

Sweets For The Sweet

Contributed by Jodi Paige

I just watched a You Tube video of two parents giving their baby his first taste of Pop Rocks.  It made me wonder if I’m the only parent who, when her first baby was born, considered the idea of never giving her child anything but all-natural, whole, organic foods.

I knew after my baby was born, I had the opportunity to see that my child developed a palate for macrobiotics.  I could rear this child so that the very idea of something deep-fried, sugarcoated, or packed in preservatives would cause him to run screaming.

The Only Solution to Health Care

Contributed by Rusty DePass

The United States has the finest health care delivery system in the world.  Oh, I know you occasionally run into someone who says the system in France or Cuba or Canada is better, but you may be reasonably assured that those people are (1) Democrats, (2) stupid or gullible or both, and (3) inveterate liars or at a minimum willing to tell any kind of tall tale for the sake of their politics.  Am I repeating myself?

The simple fact is that people from all over the world come to this country for medical treatment if they can afford it.

The Sinking Ship of Health Care “Deform”

Contributed by the misplacedmtnman*

Not so long ago I remember hearing Harry Reid quote statistics documenting how many poor, unfortunate people were dying every day because the “historic” health care bill had not been passed. Well, it passed, and now I don’t hear much about it. Despite the fact that none of the benefits of this all-inclusive miracle cure have been enacted, I guess all those people stopped dying, knowing help was on the way.

As usual, the left in this country have used the isolated sob stories of a select few to steamroll

Amendment X

Contributed by Paul G. Gurley

The 10th Amendment to The United States Constitution is as follows:

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.

The 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is really quite simple and
