A FEW HINTS…

  • You can write anything you want but we won’t post it if it’s offensive or completely illiterate.
  • It’s up to you but remember, shorter is usually better. A good rule of thumb is 150 – 400 words. Otherwise, readers have a tendency to lose interest. Just warning you.
  • Please include a title with your contribution.
  • Republican? Democrat? Libertarian? Vegetarian? All are welcome here so have at it!
  • Postings will be cut and pasted as is, more or less. Typos and misspellings are on you, pal.
  • If you want your contribution to be anonymous, let us know and we’ll keep your name out of it. We don’t want you to get in trouble with your boss… your clients… your constituents… or the other blog you work for.
  • Most of the content tends to be political, but don’t let that dissuade you from submitting something that isn’t. Readers enjoy a change of pace and heaven knows we could all use a break from that stuff from time to time!
  • If you have your own blog and want to cross-post on The Carolina Soapbox, let us know and we’ll be glad to set up a trackback to your blog.

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT THE CAROLINA SOAPBOX:

Once upon a time there was a handful of folks in South Carolina who liked to talk and write about politics. Local, state, federal, whatever. They all had opinions and, from time to time, felt moved to share them, but they didn’t have enough to say – or more accurately, time to commit – to fill up their own individual blogs. Blogs, you know, need a constant supply of new content to remain relevant and who on earth has time for that?

So they created The Carolina Soapbox and invited others to join in. Think of The Carolina Soapbox as the bulletin board in the hall where you can post your opinion on matters of import, issues of the day and commentary of general interest.

Got somethin’ to say? Then step up onto The Carolina Soapbox and let’s hear it.

WHAT THIS BLOG IS… AND ISN’T:

  • The Carolina Soapbox is an independent, multi-authored blog based in South Carolina – mostly about politics but not exclusively.
  • The Carolina Soapbox is not pushing a single point-of-view or working for a particular campaign or political party.
  • The Carolina Soapbox is not a daily news outlet. There is no staff of intrepid reporters working on deadlines to fill its pages with scoop and gossip. There are several of those in SC and some are even pretty good. Instead, this is an open forum for commentary and civil discussion.
  • The Carolina Soapbox is not a money-making venture. We don’t manufacture salacious or incendiary content to drive up our hits so we can sell our ads. In fact, we probably won’t be selling ads at all… unless someone offers us a boatload of money, that is.
  • The Carolina Soapbox is not just for political insiders and hacks who live and breathe politics and work in the State House. It’s for the rest of us who try to pay attention (more or less) and have something to say (good, bad or otherwise) about what we see going on in our world.
